Ahhh Thanksgiving is nearing, and for many of us just looking at pictures of wild turkeys is starting to make our mouths water with anticipation…

But for many of us, this weekend represents so much more than just turkeys and wishbones — Thanksgiving is as often associated with its tempting food as it is with its delicious deals. We’re on the eve of the biggest shopping weekend of the year, and experienced shoppers everywhere are preparing appropriately (check out the close-to-reality Black Friday Walmart Commercial here).

Black Friday
 

 
For those unfamiliar, Black Friday is the Friday after Thanksgiving and is considered the biggest shopping day of the year. Fanatics line up days in advance in the hopes of getting blenders for $5 and laptops for $10.
 
For all things discounts, Slickdeals.net and Fatwallet.com are your go-to guides. These two discount forums both have dedicated sections for Black Friday shopping and focuses on online deals weeks before November even comes around. Be sure to read through the comments as many community members help contribute by adding new deals and voting up hottest deals on the web.
 
Don’t forget about the daily deal giants now. LivingSocial is supposed to have 20+ national deals beginning on Black Friday, and Groupon (albeit not offering Black Friday specific deals this year) will be offering “once in a lifetime” deals such as a $5,000 3-day trip on studio tour and taping of the Ellen DeGeneres Show.
 
Merchants are also jumping in on the fray to get as much traffic to their sites to gear up for the big weekend. eCommerce giants like Amazon and Walmart are already offering early Black Friday deals to keep shoppers engaged. Everything is first come first serve, so check out the sites soon!
 
Small Business Saturday
 

 
Small Business Saturday is the day after Black Friday and it’s dedicated to supporting small business around the country. It’s a noble cause to get consumers to support the mom & pop businesses that work so hard to provide all kinds of services around us. Everyone’s got a local business they enjoy — if not, still the best ways to discover new local businesses to support are via reviews aggregators such as Yelp and CitySearch. The hectic weekend closes with Cyber Monday, the Monday following Thanksgiving Weekend.
 
Cyber Monday is an electronic enthusiasts’ dream — deals are all online and it’s a cyber land grab to whatever users can add to their “carts” first. Online shopping this year is supposed to the highest it’s ever been; one thing is for certain — it’s sure to slow down your work servers. I’ve personally done years worth of Christmas shopping through Cyber Monday and will be re-freshing pages, clicking things left and right all day (shh…)
 
Best places to look for Cyber Monday include gadget specialty shops and longtime Cyber Monday participants Staples, Woot, and Newegg (also be sure to check the sites mentioned above).
